My Story
If I had to put myself in a box, that box would read "Fragile, TNT". With a description that highlighted my energetic attitude, ridiculously obnoxious laugh, my passion for authenticity, and my little patience for BS.
For a long time in my young life, I constantly question my sense of belonging; Am I smart enough to be in this room? Am I smiling enough? Is my conversation to deep? How do I show passion without it being mistaken for aggression? Am I doing too much? Or maybe, not enough? Although, I lived in a space of self-awareness, I was forever boggled with which code I had to switch to, to "fit" in my current environment. I lacked the confidence to be real with who I was at heart regardless of the audience. Believe me, it was draining and ultimately unfulfilling. Things did not turn around for me until I realized I could be me in EVERY room. I no longer told myself to whisper to make others comfortable, smile to "seem" more approachable, or bite my tongue to not seem so opinionated. I tossed away the side of me I created to fill the biases of the people in those rooms. I'm going to be authentically and accountably ME.
As a mother, published author, and realist, I know firsthand the power that comes from acknowledging past trauma. Taking accountability for the role my efforts have played in my life. After a tumultuous journey filled with ups and downs, I found peace in taking ownership of my past and using it as a tool to better myself.
My goal with Accountably ME is to share my experiences and to help others get comfortable doing the same. By sharing my experiences and insights, I hope to inspire others to take accountability for their own, both personally and professionally. Ultimately, empowering each of you to choose to be authentically and accountably YOU.
